The difference between the ages of mother and son was 21 when mother's age was 43. If father is elder by 3 years to mother, what will be the difference between the ages of son and father when father attains 50 years?

Solution

Mother's age = 43 years , let son's age be x years

So, 43 - x = 21

x = 22, Hence, son's age = 22 years

Father age = 43 + 3 = 46 years

Now when father becomes 50 years the son's age will be 22 + 4 = 26 years

So, required difference = 50 - 26 = 24 years.
