Question 230

The perimeter of a square is twice the perimeter of rectangle. If the perimeter of the square is 72 cm and the length of the rectangle is 12 cm, what is the difference between the breadth of the rectangle and the side of the square?

The perimeter of the sqaure is 72 cm. Hence, the length of the side of the square is 18 cm

So, the perimeter of the rectangle is 36 cm.

As the length of the rectangle is 12 cm, the breadth of the rectangle is 36/2 - 12 = 6 cm.

So, the difference in the breadth of the rectangle and the side of the square is 18-6 = 12 cm
