The ratio between Binov’s and Alisha’s present ages is 5 : 6 respectively. Three years hence the ratio between their ages will he 6 : 7 respectively. What was Alisha’s age eight years ago ‘?
Solution
Let the present age be A and B respectively.
So,
B:A= 5:6 or 5A=6B -(eq1)
3 year hence,
B+3:A+3= 6:7
7B+3=6A (eq2)
Solving eq1 and eq2 we get A=18,
So A's age 8 years ago=10years
