What is the value of 144 $ 16 *7 # 9 ?
I. ‘$’ means ‘÷’, ‘*’ means ‘x’ and ‘#’ means ‘+’.
II. 16 $ 4 *2 # 2 =10.
I : We know that ‘$’ means ‘÷’, ‘*’ means ‘x’ and ‘#’ means ‘+’
=> 144 $ 16 *7 # 9 = $$144 \div 16 \times 7 + 9$$
= $$63 + 9 = 72$$
Thus, statement I alone is sufficient.
II : 16 $ 4 *2 # 2 =10
=> $$16 \div 4 \times 4 + 2 = 10$$
=> ‘$’ means ‘÷’, ‘*’ means ‘x’ and ‘#’ means ‘+’
=> 144 $ 16 *7 # 9 = $$144 \div 16 \times 7 + 9$$
= $$63 + 9 = 72$$
Thus, II alone is sufficient.
$$\therefore$$ Either statement alone is sufficient.
