Question 147

The ratio between Gloria’s and Sara’s present ages is 4 : 7 respectively, Two years ago the ratio between their ages was 1 : 2 respectively. What will be Sara’s age three years hence ?

Solution

Let the present ages of Gloria and Sara be G and S respectively

it is given that $$\frac{G}{S}$$ = $$\frac{4}{7}$$..............(1)

Now two years back Gloria's age would be G-2 and Sara's age would be S - 2 and it is given that $$\frac{G-2}{S-2}$$ = $$\frac{1}{2}$$.............(2)

Solving 2 equations will give S = 14 years and so three years hence age of Sara will be 14 + 3 = 17 years
