What is the value of ab?
I. a + b = 9
II. | a - b | = 5

$$|a-b|=5$$ have two equations.

1. $$(a-b)=5$$ 

and 

2. $$(b-a)=5$$

So, either $$a=7,b=2$$or$$a=2,b=7$$.

So both the statements are required to answer the question.

C is correct choice.
