Question 144

What is the total number of female candidates qualified from state ‘A’ and ‘B’ together ?

Solution

Number of students who appeared from A = .15 * 3,00,000 = 45,000

Number of students who appeared from B = .18 * 3,00,000 = 54,000

Number of students qualified from A = .49 * 45,000 = 22050

Number of students qualified from B = .61 * 54,000 = 32940

Number of female candidates qualified from A = 22,050 * 5/9 =12250

Number of female candidates qualified from B = 32,940 * 4/10 = 13176

Total female candidates qualified from A and B = 12250 + 13176 = 25,426
