If the numerator of a fraction is increased by 300% and its denominator is increased In 200%. the resultant fraction becomes 4/15. What is the original fraction ?

Solution

Let the fraction be $$\frac{x}{y}$$

Now as the numerator is increased by 300% and denominator by 200%, numerator becomes 4x and denominator becomes 3y

$$\frac{4x}{3y}$$ = $$\frac{4}{15}$$

$$\frac{x}{y}$$ = $$\frac{1}{5}$$
