The owner of an electronics shop charges his customer 22% more than the cost price. If a customer paid Rs. 10,980 for a DVD player, then what was the cost price of the DVD player?

Solution

Let CP of DVD player = Rs. $$100x$$

Price charged by owner = $$\frac{122}{100} * 100x$$ = Rs. $$122x$$

=> $$122x = 10980$$

=> $$x = \frac{10980}{122} = 90$$

$$\therefore$$ CP of DVD player = 100 * 90 = Rs. 9,000
