Find out the approximate value which should replace the question mark in the following questions (you are not expected to find out the exact value)

Question 122

$$\sqrt{1000}+\frac{3.001}{4.987} of 1891.992=?$$

Solution

In order to find the approximate value of $$\sqrt{1000}+\frac{3.001}{4.987} of 1891.992$$, let us find the approximate value of $$\frac{3.001}{4.987} of 1891.992$$ first.

We can approximate $$4.987 \approx 5$$ and $$3.001 \approx 3$$ and $$1891.992 \approx 1900$$

So, the approximation looks like $$\frac{3}{5} \times 1900 = 3 \times 380 = 1140$$

The approximate value of $$\sqrt{1000} = 32$$

Hence, the final answer will be close to $$1140+32 = 1172 \approx 1170$$
