Question 117

Ratio between the present ages of A and B is 2 : 3 respectively. B’s age twenty - one years hence will be twice of As age six years hence. What is the difference between the present ages of A and B ?

Solution

Let A's present age = $$2x$$ years

=> B's present age = $$3x$$ years

Acc. to ques, => $$(3x + 21) = 2 (2x + 6)$$

=> $$3x + 21 = 4x + 12$$

=> $$x = 21 - 12 = 9$$

$$\therefore$$ Difference between the present ages of A and B = $$3x - 2x$$

= $$x = 9$$ years
