How to Make the Best Use of IIMB UG Mock Tests?

Mock tests are the closest practice you get before the IIMB UG test in November 2026, and you make the best use of IIMB UG mock tests when you take, score and review each one like the real paper. The real paper has 60 questions in 135 minutes. A correct answer earns 3 marks and a wrong one costs 1 mark, out of 180 marks. The test is on Sunday, November 15, 2026, so every mock should follow these rules.

IIMB UG Mock Practice Strategy

The real IIMB UG paper is a computer-based test of multiple-choice questions, so you take every full-length mock on a computer too, never on printed sheets. Your phone stays in another room for the full 135 minutes. Each section gets only the minutes the official paper allots it, which keeps the final score close to what the real test would give you.

How to analyse IIM Bangalore UG mock tests starts with an error log, a notebook where you write down every wrong or skipped question and the reason for the mistake, such as a concept gap, a careless error or lack of time. On the evening of the mock you still remember why you picked each option, which makes it the best time for the review, and that review often runs longer than the paper did. You also write the minutes each section took next to its score. A section that ran ten minutes over has taken those ten minutes from the next one.

Wrong questions get a second attempt on a fresh page before you open the solution. A right answer this time earns a tick in the error log, and a miss sends the question to your next revision day. IIM Bangalore gives applicants an official mock test link once the application window closes, and applications for the 2026 test closed on October 17, 2026. Each mock's marks then go on one line of a notebook, total first and the three section scores after it, so you can compare each mock with the one before it.

IIMB UG Sectional Test Strategy

A sectional test takes one section of the IIMB UG paper on its own, with the same number of questions and the same time as in the real test. Half of all the marks come from one of the three sections, so practising that section alone is worth the time. A full mock spreads your time across all three sections.

Before each sectional test, you can warm up with that section's questions from IIM Bangalore's official sample questions. The set has 20 questions in all, with 10 for QADI and 5 each for LR and VARC. Your first sectional test goes to QADI, the section with the most marks, and it runs for the full hour allotted. You work out its score with the real paper's negative marking. IIM Bangalore's first shortlist includes only candidates with a score above zero in every section, and a sectional test tells you early if one section is close to zero.

During the review, every question that ran past its section's time per question goes to the top of the error log, since those are where your minutes went. Any later sectional test is in the section where your last full-length mock lost the most marks.

How Many IIMB UG Mocks Should You Practise?

You should practise at least two full-length IIMB UG mocks and one sectional test in the days left before the test, and all three fit on weekend days. A proper review of a paper takes about one and a half to two times as long as the test itself. Each full-length mock, with its review, therefore fills most of a weekend day. The two full-length papers show your progress across all three sections, and the one sectional test gives extra practice to a single section.

Whether the weak topics from the first mock now score better

Once the second full-length mock is done, the remaining days go to weak topics and to revision from the error log. The days left decide how many IIMB UG mock tests you should take, because each paper needs its full review before you start the next one. A third full-length paper would use up the days that revision needs, and the error log from your three tests becomes the revision list for those days. The last three days before the test are for revision only.

Common IIMB UG Mock Mistakes to Avoid

Mock tests only help when they are taken and reviewed properly. A few mistakes come up again and again with students preparing for the IIMB UG test, some while taking the mock and some while reviewing it. You still have time to correct each of them before November 15.

  • Taking a break in the middle of the mock, when the real test is one 135-minute paper.
  • Looking only at the total score, when the first shortlist needs a score above zero in all three sections.
  • Guessing blindly, when each wrong answer costs 1 mark and three wrong answers cancel one correct answer.
  • Reading solutions without writing down why you got the question wrong, so the same mistake comes back in the next mock.
  • Skipping the review of questions you got right by guessing, when the topic behind them may still be weak.
  • Spending 6 or 7 minutes on one hard QADI question, when the section gives you about 2 minutes per question.
  • Starting a new mock before you have reviewed the last one.
  • Practising on mocks with a different time limit or marking scheme from the 60-question, 135-minute IIMB UG test.
