Question 7

Given below are two statements :
Given that $$a : b = 5 : 3$$ and $$b : c = 2 : 5$$, then $$(c-a)$$ will be equal to

Statement I: $$10(a + c)$$
Statement II: $$10a+25b$$

In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below :

$$a:b=5:3=10:6$$, and $$b:c=2:5=6:15$$

$$a:b:c=10:6:15$$

Let us assume $$a=10k$$, $$b=6k$$, and $$c=15k$$.

Thus, $$c-a=15k-10k=5k$$

Statement I: $$10(a + c)=10(10k+15k)=250k$$

Statement II: $$10a+25b=10(10k)+25(6k)=250k$$

Neither Statement I nor Statement II is equal to (c - a) value, thus both the statements are false.
