25000 blood donors were registered with Red Cross in a city. The number of donors increased at the rate of 10% every 6 months. Find the total time (in years) at the end of which the total number of blood donors becomes 33275.
Given,
Initial donors = 25000
Final donors = 33275
Let the number of 6-month periods be k.
Since the number of donors increases at the rate of 10% every 6 months, we get the following equation
$$\dfrac{\ 33275}{25000}=\left(1.1\right)^k\ \ $$
$$1.331=\left(1.1\right)^k\ \ $$
k = 3
So, we get 3 periods of 6 months, which is equal to 1.5 years.
