From the combination of resistors with resistance values $$R_1 = R_2 = R_3 = 5 \, \Omega$$ and $$R_4 = 10 \, \Omega$$, which of the following combination is the best circuit to get an equivalent resistance of $$6\Omega$$?
Given:
R₁ = R₂ = R₃ = 5 Ω
R₄ = 10 Ω
Check option A :
Top branch: R₁ + R₂ = 5 + 5 = 10 Ω
Bottom branch: R₃ + R₄ = 5 + 10 = 15 Ω
These two branches are in parallel:
$$R_{eq}=(10\times15)/(10+15)$$
= 150 / 25
= 6 Ω
So this exactly matches the required resistance.
