The given modulating signal is a square wave of amplitude
$$A_m = 1$$
Amplitude of carrier wave:
$$A_c = 2$$
Modulation index is given by
$$\mu = \frac{A_m}{A_c}$$
Substituting the values,
$$\mu = \frac{1}{2}$$
Hence,
$$\boxed{\mu=\frac{1}{2}}$$
