IPMAT Total Marks 2026

The Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT) is a nationwide test that measures the aptitude of students looking to enrol in the five-year Integrated Program in Management (BBA + MBA) at IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak. It evaluates candidates on their quantitative ability, verbal ability, and logical thinking, helping identify potential leaders of tomorrow in business.

The total number of marks available for IPMAT varies based on the exam conducted by the institute. Currently, there are two primary IPMAT examinations available:

  • IPMAT Indore (administered by IIM Indore).
  • IPMAT Rohtak (administered by IIM Rohtak).

These two tests have completely different structures, numbers of questions, and overall numbers of points available.

IPMAT Indore Total Marks

The IPMAT Indore test has 3 sections. The total marks for the IPMAT Indore test will be based on the number of points given to each individual question.

The IPMAT Indore 2026 offers a total of 360 marks which includes

  • Quantitative Ability (MCQ) carries 120 marks,
  • Quantitative Ability (Short Answer) carries 60 marks,
  • Verbal Ability carries 180 marks.

Each question earns +4 marks for correct answers with no deduction from those taking the Short Answer exam. This format allows for both quantity and verbal practice equally.

IPMAT Rohtak Total Marks

The IPMAT Rohtak Exam question structure is different, with equal weight for each of the three subject areas. The IPMAT Rohtak 2026 offers a total of 480 marks based on three MCQ sections all with equal weightage which includes

  • Quantitative Ability (MCQ) carries 160 marks,
  • Verbal Aptitude (MCQ) carries 160 marks,
  • Logical Reasoning (MCQ) carries 160 marks.

Each question earns +4 marks correct answers with -1 deduction for incorrect answers. In this section, Students should place greater emphasis on improving speed and accuracy because of the increased number of questions.

IPMAT Exam Pattern 2026

The exam pattern is extremely important since it gives candidates an idea of what the structure will look like, how much time is allocated for each individual question and what types of questions they will see. Although both tests are considered computer-based online tests (CBT), the sections of each test will be different from one another.

IPMAT Indore Exam Pattern 2026

In the IPMAT Indore test, each of the three sections has its own time limit and candidates cannot switch from one section to another. The important feature of the IPMAT Indore test is that the short answer section and the questions of this section will not carry any negative marking. IPMAT Rohtak Exam Pattern 2026

In the IPMAT Rohtak test, a logical reasoning section is present, and this makes the IPMAT Rohtak exam unique from the IPMAT Indore exam. In the IPMAT Rohtak exam, all three sections have equal amounts of time and weight and each section of the exam has its own time limit. IPMAT Marking Scheme 2026

The IPMAT marking scheme is one of the major differences between the IPMAT tests administered by IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak, since both exams have different negative marking policies.

IPMAT Indore Marking Scheme 2026

In the IPMAT Indore exam, there will only be negative marking for MCQ-type questions and the short answer (SA) questions offer no risk since there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. For a correct answers candidate will receive +4 marks, and if the candidate answers incorrectly or leave the question blank, then they will receive zero. In the IPMAT Rohtak exam, every section has a uniform negative marking which deducts -1 for every wrong attempt and there are no short answer questions in this exam, so there’s no “safe zone” like in the IPMAT Indore exam.
