There is negative marking of 1 mark in both the sections, quant and verbal ability, that are MCQs. But in IIM Indore the short answer section of quantitative aptitude does not have any negative marking.

The IPMAT Indore Exam pattern contains three sections. Among these, questions from quantitative aptitude are asked as multiple choice questions and short answers type questions.

IPMAT Exam Duration 2026
At IIM Indore, each section is timed separately; at IIM Rohtak, there is no sectional time limit. Despite no section wise time limit, the admission committee recommends equal time of 40 minutes per section. The total duration of the IPMAT exam is 120 minutes, i.e., 2 hours.

Separate patterns are followed at the IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak when it comes to sectional time limits.
IIM Indore
IIM Indore has allocated equal time to all the sections which is 40 minutes each, which adds up to 120 minutes. Each section at IPMAT Indore is time- bound and the candidates cannot switch between sections during the exam.
