IIMB UG Exam Reporting Time and Gate Closing Time
National computer test centres for the IIMB UG exam adhere rigorously to the punctuality rule. The verification infrastructure includes biometric registration, identity verification, barcode scanning, and document verification, which must be in place before the candidate arrives. Since the IIMB UG admit card 2026 is not yet been released, based on the 2025 admission cycle, the reporting time and gate closing time are given in the following table:
Event Milestone | Scheduled Time (tentative) | Action Required / Status |

The Importance of Coming Early
You must arrive at the testing centre 90 minutes prior to your start time. This is not a suggestion. For check-in, you will go through several security gates:
Initial Security Check: Candidates are scanned by a barcode reader and handheld metal detectors to identify any transgressor electronic or contraband devices.
Document Check: Your supervisors will verify the pdf with the original government issued photo id proof.
Biometric Enrollment & Digital Photography: Test centers take a digital picture and thumb print on-site and keep the information throughout the selection cycle and match the information during final registration for impersonation.
Lab and Terminal Allocation: On completion of biometric verification the candidate is allocated an individual lab number and workstation terminal ID.
IIMB UG Exam Duration and Section-Wise Time Limits
The IIMB UG Admissions Test consists of 60 questions to be attempted in 135 minutes. The test covers three core domains, prioritizing analytical speed, quantitative mastery (based on NCERT Mathematics till Class XII) and verbal ability.
Section Name | Number of MCQs | Sectional Time Allocation |
Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation (QADI) | 30 Questions | 60 Minutes (1 Hour) |
Logical Reasoning (LR) | 15 Questions | 45 Minutes |
Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC) | 15 Questions | 30 Minutes |
Total Test Blueprint | 60 Questions | 135 Minutes (2 hrs 15 min) |
Marking Scheme and Negative Marking:
- Correct Response: +3 marks for standard evaluation base (+3 marks overall).
- Incorrect Response: There is a negative marking system. One-third (1/3rd) of the marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
- Unattempted Questions: 0 marks (neither positive nor negative)
Section Navigation and Time Enforcement
- Sectional Clock Lockdown: While the other tests provide the candidates with a few sectional timers, the IIMB UG test will have the section wise timer locked. Once your 60 minutes for QADI are over, the screen will move to the next section.
- No Roll-Over of Unused Minutes: If you solve the VARC section in 20 minutes, the remaining 10 minutes cannot be added back to Quantitative Aptitude.
- Order of Sections:The paper is arranged in a fixed order. This order is predetermined by the software of the test and the candidates are compelled to take the paper in that section in which it appears on the screen of the candidates terminal.
Will IIMB UG 2026 Be Conducted in Multiple Shifts?
No. The IIMB UG Admission Test is a single-shift exam held across the country.
Important Reasons for the Single-Shift Policy
Elimination of Score Normalization Skew: Multi-shift exams (JEE Main, CUET, etc.) require intricate percentile normalization algorithms to balance the variation in difficulty levels of paper sets. All candidates take the same paper at the same time, IIM Bangalore guarantees transparency in raw scores and fairness across candidates.
Concentrated Candidate Group: In contrast to mass undergraduate examinations with scores of millions of examinees, the Class XI and XII Mathematics eligibility, with its high academic cut-offs, limits the application pool. Prominent computer testing centers in key Indian cities comfortably support all students in a single successive exam session.
Contingency Provisions: On the rare occasion when any technical/administrative issue occurs only at a particular test centre, IIMB may conduct a uniform re-test for the candidates at that centre through a proctored second slot. All candidates who are not affected by such anomalies will appear at the scheduled time between 9.00 AM and 11.15 AM.
