What is XAT Exam?
- The Xavier Aptitude Test is one of India’s premier national-level entrance examinations for admission to various management programs offered by esteemed institutions such as XLRI Jamshedpur and other renowned B-schools nationwide.
- They are conducted annually by XLRI on behalf of the Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI). This exam evaluates candidates on various parameters, including Quantitative Ability, Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision making, and General awareness. Its structure assesses candidates’ academic proficiency, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and decision-making capabilities.
- A feature of this exam is its essay writing section. This section adds a unique dimension to the evaluation process by testing the aspirant’s ability to articulate thoughts. In total, the XAT exam time is 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Verbal and Logical Ability:Â This section tests a candidate’s proficiency in English language skills, including grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and logical reasoning.
Decision Making: This section evaluates the ability to analyse and solve complex decision-making problems. Along with this, ethical dilemmas and managerial scenarios are recreated to test the candidate’s approach in such situations.
Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation: This section tests mathematical and analytical skills. Various questions on arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data interpretation, and quantitative reasoning are asked. It is to test the mathematical aptitude of the candidate.Â

General Knowledge: This section focuses on assessing the candidate’s awareness of current affairs, business, economics, politics, and other relevant domains.Â
Essay Writing: The candidate must write an essay on a given topic. This section evaluates their ability to articulate thoughts coherently and effectively present arguments within a limited word count. Candidates will have a total of 25 minutes to complete the examination. Furthermore, it is worth noting that there will be no negative marking for Paper 3.
XAT 2024 Exam Fees
- The base registration fee for the XAT Exam stands at Rs. 2100, which also includes the applicable Goods and Services Tax (GST).
- Additionally, candidates expressing interest in applying to other programs must allocate an extra Rs. 200 for each additional program preference.
- Moreover, the payment process for the XAT Exam fees accommodates various modes, such as credit/debit cards, net banking, or UPI. Candidates should select their preferred mode of payment while adhering to the deadline to ensure a seamless transaction and successful registration. XAT 2024 Admit Card
- XAT 2023 Admit Card download date has been officially announced. Candidates preparing to take the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) in 2023 can access their Admit Cards starting December 20th. The Admit Card is a crucial document for the examination hall. It contains vital information, including the candidate’s details, exam centre address, timings, and instructions.
- To retrieve their Admit Cards, candidates should visit the official XAT website and log in using their registered credentials. Once logged in, they can navigate to the designated section for downloading the Admit Card and follow the instructions to obtain a copy.
- It’s paramount for candidates to report any discrepancies to the authorities for rectification. Remember, the Admit Card is a mandatory document to be carried to the examination centre on the exam day. Failure to present the Admit Card might result in disqualification from appearing in the test.
