Question 61

What is the difference between the average number of students who appeared in the entrance exam from all given cities and the average number of students who qualified from all the cities together?

The difference in the average number of students who appeared in the entrance exam and those who qualified will be equal to the average of all the individual differences in the number of students who appeared versus qualified for the individual cities. Therefore, the answer can be calculated as:

$$\dfrac{(3000-1750)+(2250-1250)+(3250-2250)+(2500-2000)+(3000-2000)}{5} = \dfrac{4750}{5}=950$$
