Question 60

Eight persons A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H are sitting around a circle, facing the center. E sits fourth to the right of F while second to the left of A. D is not the neighbour of A & C. B sits third to the right of D. F never sits next to H. Which of the following pairs sit between G and A?

There are eight people (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H) sitting in a circle facing the centre.

"E sits fourth to the right of F.": It means E and F are sitting directly opposite each other.

"E sits... second to the left of A." A two-seat clockwise from E.

Now, we are given that B sits third to the right of D..
This is possible in the following two cases:

Case 1:

Case 2:

Now, we have: D is not the neighbour of A & C., and F never sits next to H.

With this, we can eliminate case 1 as D can't be next to A.

Now, in case 2, C can't be next to D. Hence, C must be sitting between A and F.

Now for H, there are two seats left, i.e. between E & D or F & D.

H can't be between F and D as he never sits next to H.

Hence, the only place for H is between E and D. The remaining seat will be for G.

Hence, we get the following final arrangement:

C and F sits between A and G. Hence, the answer is Option 1.
