Question 49

Four persons Raj, Prem, Ved and Ashok are married with four girls Sushma, Kusum, Vimla and Poonam. Sushma and Vimla are friends. Ved's wife does not like Sushma and Vimla. Kusum does not care for Ved. Prem's wife is friendly with Sushma, Sushma does not like Raj. In reference to the above information, which of the following are correct?
A. Raj's wife is Kusum.
B. Sushma's husband is Ashok.
C. Poonam is wife of Ved.
D. Poonam is friendly with Vimla.

We are given that Ved's wife does not like Sushma and Vimla. It  means Ved is not married to Sushma or Vimla.

Further, Kusum does not care for Ved. It means Ved is not married to Kusum.

Since Ved is not married to Sushma, Vimla, or Kusum, he must be married to Poonam. So, we got the first pair: Ved - Poonam

Now, Sushma does not like Raj. This means Sushma is not married to Raj. Also, Prem's wife is friendly with Sushma. This means Prem is not married to Sushma. Since Sushma is not married to Raj, Ved, or Prem, she must be married to Ashok.

Hence, we got the second pair: Ashok - Sushma

Now, Prem's wife is friendly with Sushma. We also know Sushma and Vimla are friends. This would indicate to the point that Prem's wife is Vimla.

So the third pair: Prem - Vimla

So, the last pair would be: Raj - Kusum

Now, checking all the statements, A, B and C are correct.

"Statement D: Poonam is friendly with Vimla." is incorrect because at the start, we are only given that Ved's wife (Poonam) does not like Sushma and Vimla. Therefore, they are not friendly.
