IPMAT Syllabus 2026
The first thing to know about the IPMAT Syllabus 2026 is that there is no single, official syllabus. IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak do not publish a detailed document. What we have is better. It is a syllabus built from years of analyzing their exam patterns. These patterns have become stable. They tell us what to expect.
The IPMAT is not one exam. It is two separate tests for two different IIMs. IIM Indore’s test focuses on Quantitative Ability and Verbal Ability. It has 90 questions. IIM Rohtak’s test adds a third section: Logical Reasoning. It has 120 questions. This is the core difference. It changes how you prepare. It changes what you study.

You cannot save time from one section to use in another. But for IPMAT Rohtak there is no time limit and one can switch from one section to the another at any time.

IPMAT Syllabus for IIM Indore vs Rohtak
The IPMAT 2026 syllabus for Quantitative and Verbal Ability has many common topics. But the differences define the two exams. Your preparation strategy depends entirely on understanding these differences.
The biggest distinction is Logical Reasoning. IIM Rohtak has a dedicated Logical Reasoning section. It contains 40 questions. It makes up one-third of the entire exam. This needs careful planning. There is no separate LR section at IIM Indore. It doesn't have any logic-based questions in its Quantitative Ability section. Instead, it usually has Data Interpretation sets that test your logic.
The other key difference is how IIM Indore tests math. It splits the Quantitative Ability section into two parts. A multiple-choice section with negative marking. And a short-answer section without negative marking. The short-answer section often includes higher-level math. It tests your deep understanding of concepts, not your ability to eliminate options. This shows what each IIM values. Indore values deep analytical skills. Rohtak values a balanced aptitude across three distinct areas.

Which Syllabus Is Tougher Indore or Rohtak?
The simple answer? IIM Indore is tougher. This is not just an opinion. It is based on data from past exams.
The math is harder. Indore's QA section includes higher mathematics from Class 11 and 12. Topics like Matrices, Determinants, and advanced Probability are common. The questions are designed to test your application of concepts, not just your memory of formulas. The Verbal section is also more challenging. The Reading Comprehension passages are dense and require strong inference skills.
Rohtak's difficulty comes from breadth and speed. You have to prepare for an entire extra section in Logical Reasoning. And you have to solve 120 questions in 120 minutes. That is one minute per question. The challenge is different. Indore tests your depth. Rohtak tests your range and your speed.
IPMAT Syllabus 2026: Conclusion
To succeed in IPMAT 2026, you must accept a simple fact. You are preparing for two different exams. IIM Indore demands depth, especially in math. IIM Rohtak demands balance and speed across three subjects. Your study plan must reflect this reality. Use data to focus on important topics. Practice regularly. And take practice tests to get better at working under pressure. This is how to get through the IPMAT syllabus and get into a top IIM.
