Solutions for Percentage Questions for SSC CHSL PDF:

1) Answer (D)

Let total income of man = $$Rs. 100x$$
Amount spent = $$\frac{59}{100} \times 100x = Rs. 59x$$
=> Money saved = $$100x – 59x = 41x$$
$$\therefore$$ Percentage of his expenditure that he saves = $$\frac{41x}{59x} \times 100$$
= 69.49 %

2) Answer (B)

Train ticket cost for 1 day = Rs. 130
=> Cost for 29 days = 29 $$\times$$ 130 = Rs. 3770
Cost of monthly pass = Rs. 3091.40
=> Money saved = 3770 – 3091.40 = Rs 678.6
$$\therefore$$ Required % = $$\frac{678.6}{3770} \times 100 = 18\%$$
=> Ans – (B)

3) Answer (B)

Let third number = $$100x$$
First number is 40% less than $$100x$$ and second number is 50% less than $$100x$$
=> First number = $$60x$$ and Second number = $$50x$$
To make second number equal to first number, it should be enhanced by = $$60x – 50x = 10x$$
=> Required % = $$\frac{10x}{50x} \times 100 = 10 \times 2 = 20 \%$$
=> Ans – (B)

4) Answer (D)

Let third number = $$100x$$
First number is 50% less than $$100x$$ and second number is 90% less than $$100x$$
=> First number = $$50x$$ and Second number = $$10x$$
To make second number equal to first number, it should be enhanced by = $$50x – 10x = 40x$$
=> Required % = $$\frac{40x}{10x} \times 100 = 4 \times 100 = 400\%$$
=> Ans – (D)

5) Answer (A)

Let third number = $$100x$$
First number is 30% less than $$100x$$ and second number is 60% less than $$100x$$
=> First number = $$70x$$ and Second number = $$40x$$
To make second number equal to first number, it should be enhanced by = $$70x – 40x = 30x$$
=> Required % = $$\frac{30x}{40x} \times 100 = 3 \times 25 = 75\%$$
=> Ans – (A)
