List of Indian Nobel Prize Winners
A total of 904 people have received the Nobel Prize (852 men and 52 women) organisations since its inception in 1901. There are 12 Indians among the honorees (five Indian citizens and eight Indian ancestries or residency). In 1913, Rabindranath Tagore became the first Indian citizen and the first Asian to receive the Nobel prize. Here we are providing PDF of Indian Nobel Prize Winners from 1902Â to 2021.
The only woman on the list of recipients is Mother Teresa. Sri Aurobindo, an Indian poet, philosopher, patriot, and founder of integral yoga, was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1943 and the Nobel Peace Prize in 1950. However, both nominations were unsuccessful.
