Find the fraction which is as much greater than $$\frac{4}{7}$$ as it is less than $$\frac{5}{6}$$:

Solution

Let the fraction be $$\frac{x}{y}$$

according to the qusetion,

$$\frac{x}{y}-\frac{4}{7}=\frac{5}{6}-\frac{x}{y}$$

$$\frac{x}{y}+\frac{x}{y}=\frac{5}{6}+\frac{4}{7}$$

$$\frac{2x}{y}=\frac{59}{42}$$

$$\frac{x}{y}=\frac{59}{84}$$
