Answers & Solutions:
1) Answer (B)
Let daughter’s age = $x$ years
=> Mother’s age = $2x$ years
Thus, father’s age = $(2x+10)$ years
=> Brother’s age = $(2x-20)$ years ————(i)
Also, brother’s age = $(x+5)$ years ———-(ii)
From equation (i) and (ii),
=> $2x-20=x+5$
=> $2x-x=20+5$
=> $x=25$
$\therefore$ Father’s age = $2(25)+10=60$ years
=> Ans – (B)
2) Answer (A)
To see her shadow, she must be facing west (the sun must be behind her). Let she starts from point A. Thus, the path of her morning walk is :
=> Required distance = $100+85=185$ m
$\therefore$ Entry gate of her house is facing south.
=> Ans – (A)
3) Answer (D)
Let Rahul start from point A and travels 10 km towards East to reach point B, then he takes left turn and travels 3 km towards north point C. He then takes right turn and travels 5 km and reaches D, he again takes right turn and travels 8 km south to reach point E and finally takes right turn one more time and travels 3 km to stop at point F.
Thus, distance $(AF)^2=(AG)^2+(FG)^2$
=> $(AF)^2=(12)^2+(5)^2$
=> $(AF)^2=144+25=169$
=> $AF=\sqrt{169}=13$
$\therefore$ Rahul is 13 km towards South-East from his starting position.
=> Ans – (D)
4) Answer (B)
Expression : (30+20)-5(7÷3) x 25 = ?
$\equiv(30-20)\times5(7+3)\div25$
= $10\times\frac{5(10)}{25}$
= $10\times2=20$
=> Ans – (B)
5) Answer (D)
Red coloured is just above black coloured. Pink coloured is between red coloured and blue coloured.
=> Pink coloured towel is just below the blue towel.
The yellow coloured is between blue coloured and green coloured.
=> Green towel is on top and black at the bottom.
$\therefore$ Blue towel is between the pink coloured and yellow coloured towels.
=> Ans – (D)
6) Answer (C)
Price of 61 kgs of certain variety of rice at 32 per kg = (60)(32)
Price of 48 kgs of another variety of rice at x per kg = 48x
As there is no profit or loss,
(60) (32) + 48x = (108)(28)
Divide by ’48’ on both sides
40 + x = 63
x = 23
Hence, option C is the correct answer.
7) Answer (C)
The pattern followed is that in groups of 4, the term ‘PQQR’ is repeated.
= PQQR PQQR PQQR
=> Ans – (C)
8) Answer (C)
Expression : DM, EN, FO, ?
The pattern followed in each letter of the terms is :
1st letter : D (+1 letter) = E (+1 letter) = F (+1 letter) = G
2nd letter : M (+1 letter) = N (+1 letter) = O (+1 letter) = P
Thus, missing term = GP
=> Ans – (C)
9) Answer (B)
If we interchange 532 and 779 then, according to the BODMAS rule,
$779 + 14 \times 21 – 532 \div 41 = 807$
= 532 + 14 $\times$ 21 – 779 $\div$ 41
= 532+294-19
=807
10) Answer (C)
Expression : 5 β 1 δ 9 α 7 θ 142 = ?
$\equiv5\div1-9\times7+142$
= $(\frac{5}{1})-(9\times7)+142$
= $5-63+142=84$
=> Ans – (C)
11) Answer (C)
In each column, the number at the end is the sum of 1 and product of first three numbers.
Eg : $(2\times4\times3)+1=24+1=25$
and $(1\times2\times6)+1=12+1=13$
Similarly, $(5\times3\times2)+1=30+1=31$
=> Ans – (C)
12) Answer (C)
The pattern followed is that the given numbers are cubes of natural numbers in increasing order.
Thus, missing number = $8^3=512$
=> Ans – (C)
13) Answer (B)
(A) : 79, 12, 16, 36 – POLN
(B) : 95, 00, 22, 44 – POLO
(C) : 88, 33, 26, 48 – POKO
(D) : 66, 21, 24, 25 – POKO
=> Ans – (B)
14) Answer (D)
The 180 degree rotation of given figure is given by option D
15) Answer (D)
The word CORPORATION does not contain any ‘S’, thus the term Sport cannot be formed.
=> Ans – (D)
