“Government Schemes” is an important topic for RBI Grade B and NABARD, a considerable number of questions have been asked in recruitment exams like RBI Grade B Phase-1 as well as Phase-2 2017; UPSC 2017 and NABARD Grade A 2018. An aspirant preparing for these kind of exams must definitely find a way to remember maximum information, both static and current affairs, related to the government schemes launched by the government of India and respective state governments. We have analyzed the pattern of questions from the previous years’ memory based question papers and have tried to demystify this topic by categorizing the topic into five major sections to help the aspirant learn/remember government schemes easily and excel in any kind of questions asked in the exams. Introduction to Government Schemes
Government Schemes can be categorized into two types based on the implementation of schemes :
– Central Sector Schemes : Central Sector Schemes are 100% funded by government of India and implemented by concerned ministries.
– Centrally Sponsored Schemes : Centrally sponsored schemes are the schemes where a proportion of the scheme is funded by government of India and the rest is funded by respective state governments and the scheme is implemented by the states. The different ratios in which the funding is shared is: 50:50; 70:30; 75:25; 90:10 – is usually shared in case of North Eastern States. CSS scheme is cleared defined in the report – Baijal Committee Report 1987.

Current Affairs related to Government Schemes in 2018
- Government of Maharashtra has launched a Rs 4000 Crore Nanaji Deshmukh Krishi Sanjivani Yojana – scheme aimed at promoting climate resilient agriculture in 15 districts of Maharashtra.
- AU Small Finance Bank has signed an agreement with Life Insurance Corporation of India for offering PM Jeevan Jyothi Bima Yojana
- As per the recent approval from Ministry of Finance, Small Finance Banks and Payments Banks will be offering Atal Pension Yojana to increase the subscriber base of the scheme. Atal Pension Yojana subscribers have cross 1 crore mark in May 2018. Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of subscriber base.
- Government of India has signed a loan agreement of USD 250 Million with Asian Development Bank for construction of All Weather Roads in 5 Indian states in January 2018 under PM Gram Sadak Yojana.
- Government of Uttar Pradesh has launched Mukhya Mantri Awas Yojana – Grameen in January 2018, a scheme aimed at construction of houses in rural areas. Beneficiaries of the scheme are citizens who are not enrolled any of the central and state government housing schemes.

- Muhafiz scheme for workers in unorganized sector has been launched by government of Jammu and Kashmir to provide social security for 3 lakh workers registered with J&K building and other construction workers’ welfare board by providing accidental, life and disability insurance cover, the premium for which will be borne by the government.
