Question 95

If the mathematical operator '$$+$$' means division, '$$-$$' means multiplication, '$$\times$$' means subtraction and '$$\div$$' means addition, then the value of
$$1 \times 7 + 21 \times 2 \div 2 + 3 - 4$$ is

Solution

$$1 \times 7 + 21 \times 2 \div 2 + 3 - 4$$

After changing the signs

$$1-7\div21-2+2\div3\times\ 4$$

$$1-\frac{1}{3}-2+\frac{2}{3}\times\ 4$$

$$\frac{2}{3}-2+\frac{8}{3}=\frac{4}{3}$$ .
