The area of a trapezium is 18 sq.cm. Its height and base are 3 cm and 5 cm respectively. Find the length of the side parallel to the base.

Solution

Area of trapezium = $$0.5\times Sum of parallel sides\times Height$$ = $$0.5\times (a + b)\times h$$

18 = $$0.5\times (5 + b)\times 3$$

18 =$$1.5\times (5+ b)$$

b = 7 cm
