A train crossed a 140 m long platform in 15 seconds and a 180 m long platform in 17
seconds. The speed of the train was:
Difference in lengths of platforms
= 180 - 140 = 40m
Difference in time taken to cross them
= 17 - 15 = 2 s
=> Speed of train = $$\frac{distance}{time}$$
$$\frac{40}{2}$$ = 20Â $$\frac{m}{s}$$
= $$20\times \frac{18}{5}$$= 72 kmph
