Vishnu spends ₹ 5000 in buying 12 tables and some chairs. The cost of one table is ₹ 50 and that of one chair is ₹ 40. What is the ratio of the numbers of the chairs to the number of tables purchased?
Cost of 12 tables= $$12\times 50$$ = Rs.600 (cost of 1 table= Rs.50 )
Cost of chairs= 5000- 600= 4400
In Rs. 40 =1 chair
In Rs. 4400= $$4400\div 40= 110$$
Ratio of the number of the tables to the numbers of chairs purchased= 12:110 = 6:55
Hence the required ratio = 55:6
