Question 65

Consider a hypothetical planet whose mass and radius are both half that of Earth. If g is the acceleration dueto gravity on the surface of Earth, the acceleration due to gravity on the planet will be:

Acceleration due to gravity, g = $$\frac{Gm}{R^2}$$

here M is mass of planet and R is Radius

g = 9.8 $$m/s^2$$

On planet g'

= $$\frac{Gm}{R^2}$$ = $$\frac{Gm}{(R\div 2)^2}$$ = $$\frac{Gm}{R^2}$$ = 2g

The acc due to gravity on the planet is

g'  = 2g
