Question 55

If '$$+$$' means '$$-$$', '$$-$$' means '$$+$$', '$$\div$$' means '$$\times$$' and '$$\times$$' means '$$\div$$', then

$$18 \times 3 \div 4 - 5 + 3 = ?$$

Solution

'$$+$$' means '$$-$$', '$$-$$' means '$$+$$', '$$\div$$' means '$$\times$$' and '$$\times$$' means '$$\div$$'

$$18 \times 3 \div 4 - 5 + 3 = ?$$

so

$$18 \div 3 \times 4 + 5 - 3 = ?$$

apply BODMAS rule

$$6 \times 4 + 5 - 3 = ?$$

$$24+ 5 - 3 = ?$$
