Question 44

The diameter of a circular wheel is 1.4 m. How many revolutions will it make in travelling 22 km?

Solution

diameter of the circular wheel = 1.4

radius = 1.4/2 = 0.7

distance travelling in 1 revolution (C) = circumference of the wheel

=2$$\pi$$r

=$$2\times \frac{22}{7}\times 0.7$$

=4.4m

number of revolutions made by the wheel travelling 22km

 =22km/C

 = 22000m/4.4m

 =5000 revolutions
