Samit was given some money to take care of his travel during a 6-day sales drive he had to undertake. However, he had to increase his stay by another 4 days and as a result his average daily travel allowance went down by ₹ 56. What was the amount that was sanctioned to him in the beginning?

Solution

Let total amount given to Samit initially for the travel be x

He was scheduled to stay for 6 days but ended up staying 10 days for which his average daily travel allowance went down by ₹ 56.

So the decrease in average daily travel allowance is,

$$\frac{x }{ 6}$$ - $$\frac{x }{10 }$$ = 56

$$\frac{10x - 6x }{ 60}$$ = 56

$$\frac{4x }{ 60}$$ = 56

x = 840

Option C is correct.
