let take 4,6 a two consecutive even integers

6 = $$2\times 3$$

4 =$$2\times 2$$

select the highest common factor = 2

similarly take another no

let take 12,14 a two consecutive even integers

12 = $$2\times 2\times 3$$

14 =$$2\times 7$$

select the highest common factor = 2

so the hcf is 2 only
