Question 32

A television show lasted for 4$$ \frac{14}{15}  hours  $$. If $$\frac{1}{5}$$th of the total time was spent on advertisements, what was the actual duration of the television show?

Solution

Total duration of show = 4$$ \frac{14}{15} hours = \frac{74}{15} $$

Duration of advertisement = $$\frac{1}{5}th of the total time = \frac{1}{5} \times \frac{74}{15} hours =  \frac {74}{75}$$

 Actual duration of the television show = $$ \frac {74}{15} - \frac{74}{75} = 3.94 hours$$
