Question 27

Train travelling at constant speed crosses two persons walking in the same direction in 4 seconds and 4.2 seconds, respectively. The first person was walking at the speed of 4.5 km/h while the second was walking at the speed of 6 km/h. What was the speed of the train in km/h?

Let the length of the train be 'l' and speed be 'v'
As both of them are travelling in same direction we have
l/(v-4.5) =4 and l/(v-6) =4.2
4v-18=4.2v-25.2
0.2v=7.2
v=36 km/hr
