Question 1:
Find the length of the train travelling with 90 kmph if it crossed a 600m bridge in 56 seconds ?
a) 950 m
b) 900 m
c) 850 m
d) 800 m
Answer: d
Solution:
Let x be the length of the train,
Speed = 90 kmph = 90*(5/18) = 25 m/s
Distance = Speed*time
x+600 = 25*(56) = 1400
x = 1400 – 600 = 800m
So the answer is option D.
Question 2:Â
Find the distance covered by a boat in 30 mins during downstream, if its speed in still water is 7 kmph and speed of the stream is 5 kmph ?
a) 6 km
b) 7 km
c) 8 km
d) 9 km
Answer: a
RRB Group D previous year papers
Solution:
Relative speed during downstream = 7+5 = 12 kmph
Time = 30 mins = 1/2 hr = 0.5 hrs Distance = Speed*Time = 12*0.5 = 6 km
So the answer is option A.
Question 3:
3 men and 2 women can complete a work in 12 days, then in how many days can 6 men and 4 women complete the work ?
a) 4
b) 5
c) 6
d) 8
Answer: c
Solution:
3 men and 2 women can complete a work in 12 days
If persons are doubled, Days will be halved
Hence 6 men and 4 women can complete the work in 12/2 = 6 days
So the answer is option C.
Question 4:
Find the speed of a train of length 600m, which crossed a man standing on the platform in 24 seconds ?
a) 40 kmph
b) 80 kmph
c) 45 kmph
d) 90 kmph
Answer: d
Solution:
Speed = distance/time = 600/24 = 25 m/s = 25*(18/5) = 5*18 = 90 kmph
So the answer is option D.

Question 5:
Find the speed of a car which travelled 100 metres in 4.5 seconds ?
a) 60 kmph
b) 80 kmph
c) 100 kmph
d) 120 kmph
Answer: b
Solution:
Speed = distance/time = 100/4.5 m/s = (100/4.5)*(18/5) kmph = 20*4 = 80 kmph
So the answer is option B.
Question 6:
Find the distance covered by a boat in 30 mins during downstream, if its speed in still water is 7 kmph and speed of the stream is 5 kmph ?
a) 6 km
b) 7 km
c) 8 km
d) 9 km
Answer: a
Solution:
Relative speed during downstream = 7+5 = 12 kmph
Time = 30 mins = 1/2 hr = 0.5 hrs
Distance = Speed*Time = 12*0.5 = 6 km
So the answer is option A.
