SSC CGL Selection Process:
SSC CGL exam consists of 4 tiers. Tier 1 cutoff is used for shortlisting for tier 2 exams. SSC uses the scores of tier 1 exam till final selection. Hence, it is important to score as high as possible in the tier 1 exam.
Candidates clearing the minimum cutoff for tier 1 appear for tier 2 exam. Then, SSC shortlists candidates based on the cumulative score of tier 1 and tier 2 examination. SSC CGL Tier 1 structure:
Tier 1 exam consists of 4 sections – general intelligence and reasoning, English language, general awareness, quantitative aptitude.The paper contains 100 questions each carrying 2 marks. Wrong answers carry a penalty of 0.5 marks.
There are no sectional time limits in this exam. You can move between the sections while attempting. Also, there are no sectional cutoffs in this exam. So, you can completely play to your strengths.

SSC CGL Expected cutoff 2019:
We expect the cutoff for the unreserved category to be in the range of 125-135 range this time, This score can be assumed as the safe score for ssc cgl tier-1 exam assuming that the number of vacancies will be similar to that of last year.

SSC CGL expected cutoff for tier 2 exam:
SSC shortlists candidates based on the cumulative score of tier 1 and tier 2 examination.
Tier 2 exam consists of 2 papers of 200 marks each. Maths paper consists of 100 questions, each carrying 2 marks. English paper consists of 200 questions of 1 mark each.
We expect the cutoffs to remain close to the previous year cutoff with a fluctuation of 10-20 marks at the maximum. To secure jobs of higher grade pay, it is essential to score around 490 for unreserved category (going by 2016 trends). This is considered as a good and safe score for SSC CGL Tier-2 exam.
After tier 2, candidates take tier 3 exam, which is a descriptive test to assess the written communication skills of the candidate.
Finally, SSC recruits candidates after tier 4 examination (This is only for some candidates).
Tier 4 exam consists of DEST (Data Entry Skill Test)/ CPT (Computer Proficiency test). This test is of qualifying nature.

How to prepare for SSC CGL 2019:
Since the SSC CGL expected cutoff is high, candidates should frame a solid study plan. Try to stick to the plan as much as possible.Tier 1 examination is very important and it is not enough to merely qualify it. Take a free SSC mock test to analyse and improve your performance.
