Answers & Solutions:

1) Answer (A)

4% of 400 = $ \frac {4}{100} \times 400 $= 16

2% of 800 = $ \frac {2}{100} \times 800 $ = 16

16 – 16 = 0

2) Answer (C)

(a+b)(a-b) = $ a ^ {2} – b^2$

Likewise $ (\sqrt {2} +1)(\sqrt {2} – 1) = 2 -1 = 1$

ie. $ \sqrt{2} -1 = \frac {1}{\sqrt{2}+1}$

So, the option is C

3) Answer (B)

$ \sqrt{6400} = \sqrt {80 \times 80} $ = 80

4) Answer (A)

.5 $ \div$ 12 = .04

.25* .05 = .0125

.04 + .0125 = .0525

Hence, (a) is the answer.

5) Answer (D)

$\frac{391}{667}$ = $\frac{17 \times 23}{29 \times 23}$ = $\frac{17}{29}$

6) Answer (D)

The given question can be written as,

25 x (1/5) or 25 x 5 which is equal to 125

Hence, option D is the correct answer.

7) Answer (D)

$4 + (1/6) [{-10 \times (25 – 13 – 3)}  \div (-5) ]$

$4 + (1/6) [{-10 \times (9)}  \div (-5) ]$

$4 + (1/6) [18]$

$4 + 3 = 7$

Hence, option D is the correct answer.

8) Answer (C)

$ \frac{3}{5} + \frac{3}{7} $

LCM of 7 and 5 is 35 So the equation can be written as,

= $\frac{21 + 15}{35}$

= $\frac{36}{35} = 1\frac{1}{35}$

Hence, option C is the correct answer.

9) Answer (B)

The given equation can be written as,

0.58 x 350 = 203

Hence, option B is the correct answer.

10) Answer (B)

= $ 2 + 5\div [5+8\div( 1+\frac{1}{3}) – 1] $

= $ 2 + 5\div [5+8\div( \frac{4}{3}) – 1] $

= $ 2 + 5\div [5+8 \times \frac{3}{4} – 1] $

= $ 2 + 5\div 10 $

= $ \frac{5}{2} $

Hence, option B is the correct answer.

11) Answer (A)

Using BODMAS rule we can write the equation as,

$467 – \frac{1}{372} \times 372 $

$467 – 1 = 466$

Hence, option A is the correct answer.

12) Answer (D)

By using BODMAS rule the given equation can be written as,

8 x (5 – 6) = -8

Hence, option D is the correct answer.

13) Answer (C)

The equation can be written as,
18% of 60 = 54% of x
54/5 = 0.54x
x = 20
Hence, option C is the correct answer.

14) Answer (C)

Using BODMAS rule,
= 6 – 36 x (3/6) + 5
= 6 – 18 + 5 = -7
Hence, option C is the correct answer.

15) Answer (A)

( – 6 ) [40 $\div$ { 7 – ( – 3) } ]
=( – 6 ) [40 $\div$ { 10 } ]
=-$6\times 4$
=-24
