Answers & Solutions:

1) Answer (C)

Irresponsibility

2) Answer (C)

Given : -4$1 = 4, 7$-7 = 49 and 3$1 = -3

If we replace ‘$’ with $’\times’$ and multiply the product with ‘-1’, then we will get the desired result.

Eg :- $(-4\times1)\times(-1)=4$

and $(7\times-7)\times(-1)=49$

and $(3\times1)\times(-1)=-3$

Similarly, $(-8\times-5)\times(-1)=-40$

=> Ans – (C)

3) Answer (A)

Let Varun’s age = $10$ years

=> Arvind’s age = $\frac{10}{2}=5$ years

=> Ashish’s age = $3\times10=30$ years

=> Amit’s age = $8+10=18$ years

$\therefore$ Amit is the second eldest.

=> Ans – (A)

4) Answer (A)

Given : $6\alpha1 = 70, 2\alpha3 = 50$ and $4\alpha5 = 90$

If we replace $’\alpha’$ with ‘+’, and multiply the sum by 10, we get the desired result.

Eg :- $(6+1)\times10=70$

and $(2+3)\times10=50$ and $(4+5)\times10=90$

Similarly, $(4+1)\times10=50$

=> Ans – (A)

5) Answer (C)

Position of Punjab’s bus from right end = 19th

=> Position of Raftaar’s bus from right end = 19 + 23 = 42nd

Since, Raftaar’s bus is also at the centre, => Number of buses between Raftaar bus and bus standing at the left end (eliminating these two buses)

= $42-2=40$

=> Ans – (C)

6) Answer (D)

We know, $s_{1}\ t_{1} = s_{2}\ t_{2}$

$s_{1}\ t_{1} = (\frac{3}{4}) s_{1}\ (t_{1} + 20)$

$t_{1} = (\frac{3}{4}) (t_{1} + 20)$

$4 t_{1} = (3 t_{1} + 60)$

$t_{1} = 60$ minutes

Hence, option D is the correct answer.

7) Answer (D)

The pattern followed is that in groups of 4, the term ‘WXYZ’ is repeated.

= WXYZ WXYZ WXYZ

=> Ans – (D)

8) Answer (A)

The pattern followed is that in groups of 6, the term ‘aabbcc’ is repeated.

= aabbcc aabbcc

=> Ans – (A)

9) Answer (D)

Expression = 11: 16:: ?: ?

The difference between the first and second number is 5. Among the options,

(A) : 16 – 14 = 2

(B) : 22 – 15 = 7

(C) : 14 – 7 = 7

(D) : 18 – 13 = 5

=> Ans – (D)

10) Answer (C)

Wife of Heena’s father = Heena’s mother

Now, the man is the only son of Heena’s mother, => Heena is his sister.

=> The man is Heena’s brother.

=> Ans – (C)

11) Answer (A)

By decoding we get $279-145+6\times42\div6$ and so by applying BODMAS we get 176 as the answer.

12) Answer (B)

$35\div7\times2 = 10$
$24\div8\times3 = 9$

Here, $\div$ is coded as # and $\times$ is coded as %.
Hence, $16\div2\times4 = 8\times4 = 32$

13) Answer (A)

Expression : 16 V 24 T 8 R 6 T 2 K 3 = ?

$\equiv16+24\div8-6\div2\times3$

= $16+(\frac{24}{8})-(3\times3)$

= $16+3-9=10$

=> Ans – (A)

14) Answer (D)

Expression : 44 L 11 S 7 V 7 M 9 = ?

$\equiv44\div11\times7-7+9$

= $(4\times7)+2$

= $28+2=30$

=> Ans – (D)

15) Answer (B)

A and F sit at extreme ends of the row. Here, there will be two possibilities.
(1) A , __ , __ , __ , __ , F
(2) F , __ , __ , __ , __ , A

D sits third to the right of C.
(1) A , C , __ , __ , D , F
(2) F , C , __ , __ , D , A
D is not an immediate neighbour of A. Hence, Possibility (2) is eliminated

E is not an immediate neighbour of C. Hence, the required arrangement is

A , C , B , E , D , F

From the above arrangement, E sits fourth from the left end.
