Phase 2: Shortlisting for Personal Interview (PI)

The Stage 2 process applies to all eligible candidates who completed the registration in Stage 1 for IIMK admissions. It determines who will be called for a personal interview (PI). A shortlist of candidates in each category is prepared based on an Aggregate Index Score (AIS). The AIS is calculated using CAT 2022 scores, Class X, Class XII, gender/academic diversity criterion, and work experience.

Aggregate Index Score Computation for Stage 2 Shortlist: (Info as per official website)
Component Weight
CAT Index Score 45%
Class X Percentage Score 25%
Class XII Percentage Score 15%
Gender/Academic Diversity Score 10%
Work Experience Score 5%

* The number of candidates shortlisted would be at the discretion of IIMK and would depend on the batch size planned for 2023-25.

Work Experience Score: If you have work experience after graduation, it will be considered for up to 5% weightage, depending on the length of service. Only full-time paid work experience will be considered, and it should be for a duration of 6 months or more. Part-time, project-based, internship, articles, or pre-graduation work experience won’t be counted.

Phase 3: Final Shortlist

Shortlisted candidates will go through a Written Ability Test (WAT) and a Personal Interview (PI) at various locations like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai, and New Delhi. The entire process will take half a day (either morning or afternoon). During this process, candidates will write an essay and then have the PI.

During the Personal Interview (PI), the panel will evaluate the candidate’s academics, general awareness, attitude, personality, and communication skills. They will also consider the quality of the candidate’s work experience to calculate the resume score based on their academic and professional qualifications.

After finishing the WAT and PI process, the overall scores will be determined based on how well you did in CAT 2022, PI, WAT, and your resume. Here are the weights assigned to each component for the final selection.

Component Weight
CAT Index Score 35%
PI Score 35%
WAT Score 20%
Resume Score 10%

We will make separate merit lists for each category based on the final scores. Admission offers will be given to candidates according to the Government of India reservation norms, following the order of the merit list.

In the selection process, the candidate’s resume is given a weighted score of 10%, as stated on the official website. Here are some of the factors considered during the Resume Evaluation from the personal data form.

  • Quality of the Undergraduate Academic Institution
  • Professional Qualification (CA/ICWA/CS)
