Understanding Exam Pattern:

Let us start by exploring the structure of the exam before moving on to the SSC 10+2 preparation tips. SSC conducts the exam in 3 tiers.

Tier-1:

The tier 1 exam is similar to the CGL tier 1 exam in every way. It consists of 4 sections, each containing 25 questions. Each question carries 2 marks and SSC deducts a fourth of the mark allotted (0.5) for wrong answers. There are no sectional timings or sectional cut offs in the exam. The duration of the exam is 1 hour.

Tier-2:

The score a candidate gets in this exam plays a vital role in the final selection. The tier 2 paper contains 2 questions – one on essay writing and the another on letter writing. SSC shortlists aspirants who have obtained at least 33% of marks in the tier 2 exam and clear the cumulative cut off for tier 3 exam.

Tier-3:

Tier 3 exam is purely qualifying by nature. Tier 3 exam is a typing test known as DEST. SSC prepares the merit list by considering the scores of a candidate in tier 1 and tier 2 exam only. Aspirants can read SSC CHSL expected cut off 2019 for more details.

Making a Study plan for SSC CHSL 2019:

Start with the basics before moving on to the shortcuts. A minor tweak in the question can leave the shortcut crunchers at sea. Therefore, know the conventional method to solve every question before moving on to the shortcuts.

Avoid rushing through the basics. A solid foundation is essential to ace any exam. As of now, the time available is ample even for someone who is clueless about the exam. Therefore, avoid skipping the basics and devote sufficient time to each topic.

Be comfortable with all types of questions. Do not ignore a topic completely. Also, do not be over-dependent on a particular subtopic. Prepare for the worst case scenario too. Do not skip questions such as visual reasoning during the preparation phase.

For GK, download GK compendiums and go through them. Revise GK for an hour a day to stay in touch. At the same time, avoid spending a disproportionate amount of time trying to master the GK section. The chances of someone scoring over 45 in the GK section is abysmal. Also, do not ignore the section completely. Spend a reasonable amount of time every day so that you end up with a decent score. Don’t try to master GK section at the cost of other sections.

D-day preparation:

Solve previous year papers of SSC CHSL and CGL exams. The CHSL exam is more or less a toned down version of the CGL exam. Therefore, going through the past papers of both exams can infuse the much-needed confidence to tackle the paper. Also, it is a commonly known fact that SSC repeats questions. Therefore, solving previous year papers will give you an edge in the actual exam.

Take mock tests now and then to keep track of your preparation. Mocks are an excellent way to keep track of your preparation. They show you the mirror from which you can derive some actionable insights. Therefore, take mocks to know where you fall and work to bridge those gaps. Analyze the mocks to gain the maximum out of each mock test.

Develop an exam strategy based on your strengths and weaknesses. Put it through a rigorous test by deploying them in the mocks. Then, make some changes to your strategy on the basis of mock test outcomes. Develop a flexible strategy to adopt on the D-day.
