Let the two numbers be 3x and 7x respectively.
Given, $(3x)^2+(7x)^2 = 3712$
⇒ $9x^2+49x^2 = 3712$
⇒ $58x^2 = 3712$
⇒ $x^2 = 64$
⇒ x = 8
Then, Largest number = 7x = 7*8 = 56
2) Answer (C)
Let the two numbers be 2x and 5x.
Given, $(5x)^2 – (2x)^2 = 1029
⇒ $25x^2 – 4x^2 = 1029
⇒ $21x^2 = 1029
⇒ x^2 = 49
⇒ x = 7.
Then, the two numbers will be,
2x = 2*7 = 14
5x = 5*7 = 35
Then, Sum of two numbers = 14+35 = 49.
3) Answer (C)
Let the present age of daughter be ‘d’ and mother’s be ‘m’
(d-4)/(m-4)=3:8
8d-32=3m-12
8d-3m= 20
(d+6)/(m+6)=8:13
13d+78=8m+48
13d-8m=-30

Let us assume that there are 9x boys and 5x girls. So we have 14x = 420 => x = 30
