List of Scheduled Languages of India:

8th Schedule of the constitution consists of 22 languages & these 22 languages are called Scheduled Languages. Scheduled languages are entitled for the representation on Official Languages Commission.The Govt is obliged to develop the scheduled language, work for its enrichment & make it an effective means of communication. Additionally the candidate appearing for a public service examination can answer the paper in any scheduled language. 14 languages were initially included in the constitution,Sindhi is added through 21st Constitutional Ammendment Act in 1967 , Konkani, Manipuri & Nepali are added through the 71st Constitutional Ammendment Act in 1992 & Bodo, Dogri, Maithili & Santhali are added through 92nd Constitutional Ammendment Act in 2003.
