CAT 2023: 2.88 Lakh Candidates Appeared (66,000 More Than Last Year)
On Monday, after the day of the CAT 2023 Exam IIM-L, the authority responsible for conducting CAT 2023 gave an official report regarding the exam. Most of the details are similar to the CAT 2022. There was a 28% increase in the number of aspirants over the previous year, as reported by IIM-L.
Increase in the Number of Candidates
- In the last year, 2.22 lakhs appeared for CAT 2022. In the current year, about 3.38 lakh registrations and 2.88 lakh candidates are reported to have appeared for the exam.
Test Centres & Attendance
- CAT 2022 was reported to be conducted across 300 test centres in 150 cities across India.
- CAT 2023 was conducted across 375 test centres in 167 cities across India, which shows about a 25 % leap in test centres in 2022.
- The increase in the number of cities is also to make test locations convenient for all the 2023 aspirants.
- Also, the attendance was reported to be 88% this year which was 86% last year.
CAT 2023 Exam Update & Pattern
- The statement also confirmed the same number of questions in each section for both the years.
(The report stated that 24 questions were asked in QA, 20 in DILR, and 22 in VARC.
CAT 2023 Test Duration
- The test duration is the same as per the official statement.Â
- Each section is allowed 40 minutes, which concludes 120 minutes of the total exam duration.
- Also, candidates under PwD are said to be allowed for 160 minutes, where 53 minutes and 20 seconds were allowed for each section.
- All this information confirms that the test was similar to CAT 2022.
