                                     Introduction to Government Schemes
Government Schemes can be categorized into two types based on the implementation of schemes :
– Central Sector Schemes : Central Sector Schemes are 100% funded by government of India and implemented by concerned ministries.
– Centrally Sponsored Schemes : Centrally sponsored schemes are the schemes where a proportion of the scheme is funded by government of India and the rest is funded by respective state governments and the scheme is implemented by the states. The different ratios in which the funding is shared is: 50:50; 70:30; 75:25; 90:10 – is usually shared in case of North Eastern States. CSS scheme is cleared defined in the report – Baijal Committee Report 1987.

Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana

Purpose The Scheme was launched on April 05th 2015.The purpose of the scheme is to fund the UNFUNDED and bring them into the regular financial system and offer them cheap loans up to Rs 10 Lakhs for establishing or expanding business in  non-farm sector.
Facts and Figures –      There are three category of loans
– Shishu: Loans upto Rs 50,000
– Kishor: Loans above Rs 50,000 up to Rs 5,00,000
– Tarun: Loans above Rs 5,00,000 up to Rs 10,00,000-      MUDRA (Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency Ltd), a subsidiary of SIDBI has been set up exclusively to cater to the needs of beneficieries.-      As per the recent Budget 2018-19, 10.38 Crore loans amounting to Rs 4.6 Lakh Crore has been sanctioned under MUDRA Yojana-      76% of the loan accounts belong to women-      More than 50% belong to SC, ST and OBC category beneficiaries-      Target Set for 2018-19 to lend under MUDRA Yojana –
Rs 3 Lakh Crore.

Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jana Aushadhi Yojana

Purpose Aimed to Provide quality medicines at affordable prices to the citizens of India particularly the poor.
Facts and Figures –      BPPI – Bureau of Pharma PSUs of India is the implementing agency of the scheme.

–      State Governments /NGOs/Trusts/Private Hospitals/Doctors can open Jan Aushadhi Stores and they should employ one B Pharma/ D Pharma degree holder as the pharmacist.

–      Minimum standard required space approved by BPPI is 120 Sft

–      One-time financial assistance of Rs 2.5 Lakh will be provided by BPPI.

–      Applicants belonging to weaker section may be provided medicines worth Rs 50,000 in advance.

–      30 Days credit facility to all Janaushadi Stores will be provided

Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana

Purpose A scheme for providing Physical Aids and Assisted Living for senior citizens belonging to below poverty line
Facts and Figures –      Financial Outlay for three years till 2018-20 is Rs 483.6 Crore

–      Implementing agency for the Scheme is ALIMCO (Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation)

–      Expected to benefit Rs 5,20,000 senior citizens over a period of 3 years

–      100% central sector scheme fully funded by government of India

–      The expenditure for the scheme will be met from the funds of Senior Citizens Welfare Fund

–      The devices will be distributed free of cost

–      30% of the beneficiaries in each district to be women.

SBI Clerk Free Mock Test

Ajeevika Grameen Express Yojana

Purpose This is a sub scheme of Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana launched to assist SHGs in operating Road Transport Services in Backward Areas
Facts and Figures –      The beneficiary SHG member will be provided an Interest free loan by CBO (Community Based Organization) from its Community Investment Fund upto Rs 6.5 Lakhs for purchase of a vehicle.

–      State Run Livelihood Missions will carry out the feasibility studies and traffic survey for ascertaining sustainable implementation of the scheme.

–      Scheme is implemented on a pilot basis for 3 years in 250 blocs with each bloc providing upto 6 vehicles for transportation

–      The scheme Deen Dayal Antyodaya will be implemented across all states and Union Territories except Chandigarh and New Delhi

Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana – RAFTAAR

Purpose Aim is to make farming a remunerative economic activity through strengthening farmers’ income, mitigating risks associated and promote agribusiness entrepreneurship
Facts and Figures –      The scheme has been extended recently for another three years 2017-20 and has been approved as RKVY – RAFTAAR (Remunerative Approaches for Agriculture and Allied Sectors Rejuvenation)

–      Financial allocation of Rs 15,722 crore has been set aside for the scheme

–      The distribution of funds between government of India and state governments will be 60:40 (90:10 in case of North Eastern and Himalayan States)

–      Important Missions being implemented under RKVY:

Bringing Green Revolution to Eastern India

Saffron Mission

Accelerated Fodder Development Mission

Reclamation of Problem Soil

Crop Diversification Programme

–      State Agriculture Plans and District Agriculture Plans are prepared by states for decentralized implementation of the scheme

  • Kushi scheme has been launched by government of Odisha to offer free sanitary pads to school going girls from class 6 to 12 in government and government aided schools in Odisha
  • Ama Gaon, Ama Vikas scheme has been launched by government of Odisha to reach out to public in rural areas and involve them in developmental projects.
  • Government of India has approved National Health Protection Scheme – AYUSHMAN Bharat Mission and is announced in Budget 2018. The scheme will provide Rs 5,00,000 per family per year for secondary and tertiary health care and is expected to benefit 50 Crore beneficiaries. Indu Bhushan has been appointed as the CEO of AYUSHMAN Bharat Mission

  • Manoj Sinha MoS for Communications has launched free wi-fi service for Udwada in Valsad District of Gujarat. BSNL has installed the Wi fi service and Rs 16.48 Lakh has been allocated for the project under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana
  • SARAS Aajeevika Mela 2018 has been held in New Delhi which was organized by Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana – NRLM
  • KUSUM – Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabiyaan has been implemented by government of India which will establish grid connected solar power plants each of capacity up to 2 MW in rural areas. It is aimed at enabling farmers sell surplus solar power generated to Power Distribution Companies thereby earning additional income.
  • Government of India has launched “Suvidha” Napkin under PM Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana which will be offered at Rs 2.50 at all Janaushadi stores by 28th May 2018 which is observed as World Menstrual Hygiene Day.
  • Government of India has approved continuation of Swatantra Sainik Samman Yojana for 2017-20 with an outlay of Rs 2552.93 Crore.

  • Ministry of Human Resources and Development has launched Samagra Shiksha Scheme to improve quality of education in schools. Three schemes have been subsumed – Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Teacher Education and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan. Scheme focused on implementation of digital education, improvisation of teacher training institutes for enhancing the quality of teachers and providing annual grant of Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000 per school for strengthening of Libraries.
  • Energy Efficiency Services Ltd has distributed over 30 Crore LED bulbs across the country under the UJALA scheme in May 2018. The effort has increased India’s global share of LED market to 12%.
  • Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has launched Green Skill Development Programme which will train 5.5 Lakh workers in environment and forest sectors in the country through 30 courses by 2021 for sustainable development and management of natural resources.
  • Government of India has approved continuation of Green Revolution in agriculture sector from 2017-20 with an outlay of Rs 33,269 Crores.
    Following are the sub schemes under the umbrella scheme – Green Revolution:

National Food Security Mission, National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture, Sub Mission on Agriculture Extension, Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization, Sub Mission on Seeds and Plantation Material, Sub Mission on Plant Protection and Plan Quarantine, Integrated Scheme on Agriculture Census, Economics and Statistics, Integrated Scheme on Agricultural Marketing, National e-Governance Plan, Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture.
